Two people are charged in a Barren County Kentucky robbery that resulted in a shooting.
At 9:28 p.m. March 3, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the emergency room at T.J. Samson Community Hospital after a man was brought in with a gunshot wound in his neck.
Deputy Joseph Ford identified the victim as Joey Brown, 22, of Glasgow, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Brown had been involved in an altercation with John W. Wheat, 53, and Ashley N. Finn, 34, both of Glasgow, in a church parking lot on Oak Grove Church Road. Wheat and Finn produced firearms during the altercation and demanded Brown give them money. Wheat then fired a shot at Brown, striking him in the neck.
Brown was flown by helicopter to the University of Louisville.
Wheat was arrested Tuesday in Barren County and charged with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. Finn was arrested March 18 and charged with first-degree robbery.
Both were lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. Wheat’s bond is set at $50,000. Finn’s bond is set at $25,000.
