Richardson, Texas - On October 29, 2011, Dallas Morning News reported an incident involving a man firing a gun in a church.

According to reports, Richardson police PIO, Kevin Perilich reported a group at Solomon's Porch were hanging out when a second group arrived.  A short time later, the two groups began fighting.  A man at the church produced a firearm and discharged the gun several times into the air in an attempt to stop the fight.

Nobody was injured from the gunfire, and the groups involved in the fight dispersed quickly.  Officers arrested the man identified as 22 year old Keathon Davis who was charged with discharging a weapon in a public place, which is a Class B misdemeanor.

Police stated the man had no intention of shooting anyone, and that the shots were "effective, but a poor decision."

Still the Wild Wild West out there?   Don't think I'd risk a misdemeanor on my record for that.  Then again, at least it broke up the fight.  Who knows, someone could have been killed or seriously injured depending on the severity of the fight.  Too many variables I guess to make a snap judgment on the guy unless he didn't try to stop the fight before he discharged his firearm.
